Granite

Granite is a small but deliberate corner of our range — 10 slabs, kept for customers who want the classic hard-stone worktop rather than marble's softer calcite look. It's an igneous rock, around Mohs 6-7, with a tighter, more granular pattern than marble's sweeping veins, and it copes with lemon juice, hot pans and daily kitchen wear with far less babying than a calcite stone. Colours run from deep, near-black pieces like Cosmos and Nero Bella through to the cooler blue of Azul Mary, the warmer gold fleck of Golden Meteor, and the more even grey of Metallic. Black leads the range at three of our ten granite slabs, which is part of why granite reads more uniform slab to slab than marble or quartzite — some customers prefer that for a large run of worktop that needs to match end to end.
