Onyx

Onyx is the one material in our range we sell for looks first, not durability — 16 slabs, chosen for the kind of banded, translucent colour that only really earns its place on a feature wall, bar front or backlit panel rather than a busy worktop. Like marble it's calcite-based, but softer again at around Mohs 3, and thin-cut onyx will glow when lit from behind — a trick neither marble nor quartzite can do. Within onyx itself there's real variety across those 16 slabs: the deep gold of Alba Dorata Onyx Slabs, cool green in Amazon Onyx, soft pink in Pink Onyx Extra, and pale, near-translucent white in Himalayan Onyx. Because it marks and chips more readily than harder stones, we supply onyx as slabs only, sealed and fabricated to your template, and we're upfront with customers about where it will and won't hold up — a fireplace surround or splashback, yes; a chopping-heavy worktop, no.
