Purple Marble

Purple is an uncommon colour in natural stone. In marble it usually appears in two ways: as a violet stone where purple runs through the whole surface, or as purple and burgundy veining on a white ground, as in Calacatta Viola.

This page shows our purple marble in slab form where purple is the base colour of the stone. At present that is a single Violet slab, with purple tones running through the surface.

Most of our purple marble is listed under Calacatta Viola, because there the purple sits in the veining and the ground is white. Calacatta Viola is listed in several grades, including Extra and Super Extra, and as Calacatta Viola Gold, named for its gold-toned veins. Golden Violet slabs and violet large tiles for floors and walls are on the same page. All of them are gathered on Calacatta Viola and violet marble.

Purple marble is used for feature walls, fireplaces, bathroom vanities and kitchen islands, where the stone itself is the main design element. Like all marble, it is softer than quartzite and reacts to acids, so it should be sealed.
