Revelations

Ten stones, unveiled. On what marble keeps and what marble releases.

Editor's Note

When a block is cut, the saw passes through silence. For weeks, sometimes for months, no one knows what pattern lies inside. The first pass of the wire, the first polished face — this is the moment quarrymen have always called the reveal.

Volume I gathers ten such reveals. Each one appears three times — once in the room it was made for, once at the angle that shows its hand, and once as a bare slab, still carrying the light of the yard it came from.

We began this magazine because the catalogue kept telling a thinner story than the material deserved. A slab is not a surface. It is a page, kept face-down for two hundred million years, now turned.

I

First Light

Two whites. One is the background the city has agreed on for a hundred years. The other is a crystal so cold it seems to have just finished being weather.

Bianco Carrara marble in luxury interior

01BIANCO CARRARA · A FOUNDATIONAL WHITE

The dining room, set for a morning no one would want to rush.

Material Note

Limestone metamorphosed to crystal under heat and pressure that outlasts human history. Carrara has taught architecture what white means — and furnished the surface, polished honest, of nearly every museum worth visiting.

02CARRARA · KITCHEN ISLAND

Waterfall edge — where the veining turns the corner without breaking its sentence.

Carrara Marble marble in luxury interior

03SLAB · QUARRIED NEAR CARRARA

The first polished face, straight from the yard.

The whitest stones reveal the least — and, somehow, the most. They are the slate on which all other stories are scored.

An interior, momentarily, holding its breath.

II

The Dark Unveiled

Black is the longest-polished of materials. These two reveal only what the light agrees to ask them.

Sahara Noir marble in luxury interior

06SAHARA NOIR · GOLD-VEINED BLACK

A boutique that has decided its clothes will be quieter than its walls.

Material Note

The gold lines in dark stones are mica and amber, thin organic seams laid on the floor of a warm sea three hundred million years ago. Polishing reveals them; the rest of geology is just patience.

Black Natural Stone marble in luxury interior

07SAHARA NOIR · CHEVRON

Bookmatched at a corner; gold climbs the seam like a handwritten line.

08SLAB · SAHARA NOIR

The sparse, elegant alphabet of its veining, up close.

Black is not the absence of pattern. It is the patience of pattern, waiting for light to find it.
III

What the Earth Remembers

Stones whose veins are not decoration but autobiography — the geological record, polished and brought indoors.

Calacatta Viola marble in luxury interior

11CALACATTA VIOLA · MANGANESE-VEINED

Where the mountain put on its formal robes.

Calacatta Viola marble in luxury interior

12VIOLA · BOOKMATCHED FIREPLACE

Two halves of the same block, agreeing across the fire.

Material Note

The purple and red veins in dramatic marbles are manganese and iron oxides, pushed through fractures in calcite by ancient hot springs. Each line records a single tectonic event — an earthquake, a continental collision, signed in mineral.

13TEXTURE · VIOLA BRECCIA

Up close: fragments of three hundred million years, held in a single frame.

14ROSSO LEVANTO · IRON-RED

Palatial grandeur, written in iron and time.

Rosso Levanto marble in luxury interior

15ROSSO LEVANTO · FIREPLACE HALL

Cherry blossom, gold mirror, a fire that knows it has an audience.

Every vein is a tectonic event, recorded in the only language the planet writes in.

A room that has chosen its own weather.

IV

Still Waters

The cool end of the catalogue, where stone behaves like water remembered.

Amazonite marble in luxury interior

16AMAZONITE · QUARTZITE

A waterfall desk under a double-height ceiling, the stair glazed in glass.

Material Note

Quartzites begin life as sandstone — beach quartz, dune quartz, river quartz — pressed by mountains until each grain forgets its origin and fuses into something harder than glass. The colours come last, from minerals carried in by water.

Amazonite marble in luxury interior

17AMAZONITE · BOOKMATCHED WALL

Two mirrored halves; between them, the shape of something half-remembered.

Amazonite

Amazonite marble slab texture

18SLAB · AMAZONITE

Turquoise and burgundy, still lifting from the yard.

Green is the colour of forgetting — the long cool of moss after fire, the algae remembering an ocean.
Oyster Green marble in luxury interior

19OYSTER GREEN · STILL WATERS

A divider between living and dining, holding the rumour of an estuary.

Oyster Green marble slab texture

20SLAB · OYSTER GREEN

Grey, blue-green, olive — the colours a low tide leaves behind.

V

Of Quiet Ground

The neutrals that hold a room together without insisting upon themselves — stone in its most generous register.

Tundra Grey marble in luxury interior

23TEXTURE · TUNDRA GREY

The crystalline ground, as the polisher finds it.

#8A7E6F

Tundra Grey

Material Note

Tundra Grey is limestone, metamorphosed under the same pressure that lifts a plateau into mountain. Its grey is iron in residue; its faint cross-hatching, the memory of a Cretaceous lagoon.

The most generous stones are the ones that disappear into use, and grow more themselves the longer they are walked upon.

Volume I concludes here. The next reveal is already underway, somewhere under a hundred metres of mountain.

Volume II — Patina — arrives in autumn. Ten new stones, three images each. Until then, the catalogue remains open at all hours.

Based in London, we are one of the UK's most trusted suppliers of marble tiles, large marble tiles, marble slabs, onyx, and travertine, proudly serving architects, interior designers, contractors, and homeowners.

With decades of experience and strong partnerships with quarries around the world, we bring only the finest selections of marble and natural stone to the UK market. Whether you are searching for large marble tiles for an open-plan living area, marble slabs for kitchen countertops, or exquisite onyx for statement interiors, Emperor Marble is your partner in creating exceptional spaces.

Marble Tiles – A Classic Choice for Timeless Interiors

Marble tiles have been used for centuries in palaces, hotels, and luxury residences, admired for their elegance and durability. Today, they remain one of the most sought-after choices for modern homes in the UK. At Emperor Marble, our marble tiles come in a variety of finishes – polished, honed, brushed, or tumbled – giving you the flexibility to create exactly the look you want.

Polished marble tiles

Deliver a glossy, mirror-like surface that reflects light beautifully, making spaces feel brighter and more expansive.

Honed marble tiles

Offer a matte finish that brings subtle sophistication to interiors such as bathrooms and bedrooms.

Tumbled marble tiles

Bring texture and rustic character, perfect for more traditional or country-style properties.

No matter which finish you choose, our marble tiles are carefully sourced and cut to ensure both quality and consistency. From compact London flats to large commercial spaces, marble tiles transform floors, walls, and even outdoor areas into statements of elegance.

Large Marble Tiles & Big Marble Tiles – The Luxury of Scale

Modern architecture increasingly favours open spaces, minimalism, and seamless finishes. This is where large marble tiles play a crucial role. Their expansive size reduces the number of grout lines, creating a smooth and continuous surface that looks both elegant and contemporary.

Why choose large or big marble tiles?

  • Fewer grout lines = a cleaner, more seamless finish
  • Perfect for underfloor heating systems, common in London and UK homes
  • Helps smaller rooms appear larger and more open
  • Easy to maintain thanks to fewer joints that collect dirt

In commercial projects such as hotels, shopping centres, or high-end showrooms, large marble tiles create an impressive visual effect. In private residences, big marble tiles elevate living rooms, kitchens, and hallways, giving them the luxurious touch usually seen in five-star hotels.

Marble Slabs – Natural Beauty Beyond Compare

For projects that require striking, uninterrupted surfaces, our marble slabs are the ultimate choice. A single marble slab can become the centrepiece of a kitchen island, a bathroom vanity top, or a dramatic feature wall. Each slab is unique, with its own veining, colour variation, and personality.

At Emperor Marble, we source marble slabs from the most prestigious quarries around the world. From the classic beauty of Carrara and Calacatta to the dramatic veining of Statuario and Nero Marquina, our collection offers unmatched variety.

Applications of marble slabs include:

  • Kitchen worktops and islands
  • Bathroom countertops and sinks
  • Fireplace surrounds
  • Feature walls in living rooms, hotels, or offices

Marble slabs not only add luxury but also increase the value of a property, making them a smart investment for homeowners and developers alike.

Onyx – Exotic Elegance for Unique Interiors

While marble is timeless, onyx brings something truly extraordinary. Known for its translucency and dramatic colours, onyx has become one of the most desirable stones for luxury interiors. When backlit, onyx slabs create a magical glow, turning walls, bars, and reception areas into works of art.

Our onyx collection includes a wide variety of colours – from soft creams and greens to bold ambers, blues, and multi-coloured variations. Designers across the UK choose onyx when they want to make a bold, unforgettable statement.

Popular uses of onyx include:

  • Backlit feature walls in luxury hotels
  • Bar counters in restaurants and lounges
  • Spa interiors for a serene, high-end feel
  • Decorative panels in luxury apartments

With onyx, no two slabs are alike, making every project completely unique.

Travertine – Natural Warmth and Timeless Charm

Another cornerstone of our collection is travertine, a stone admired for its natural warmth, earthy tones, and versatility. Used in Roman architecture for centuries, travertine continues to be a popular choice in modern UK homes and commercial projects.

Why choose travertine?

  • Its neutral, earthy tones blend beautifully with both classic and contemporary interiors
  • Travertine tiles are perfect for both indoor and outdoor use
  • Available in polished, honed, or tumbled finishes for different aesthetics

Applications include:

  • Patios, gardens, and outdoor terraces
  • Bathroom and spa areas, thanks to its naturally non-slip surface when honed
  • Living room flooring for a rustic yet sophisticated look

Travertine remains a cost-effective option without compromising on elegance, making it ideal for homeowners who want a natural stone feel within a reasonable budget.
